We were supposed to light our first candle on our Advent Wreath Sunday. We had to postpone it by one day since 1) the wreath wasn't up yet and 2) I had no candles. No wreath and no candles pretty much makes up the Advent Wreath. After a quick stop at Target for candles (small candles since I hadn't realized that full sized candles had gone up majorly in price - $6 each), we were able to light our first candle and read Mark 1:1-8 on Monday evening.
Sunday evening we also completed our first Elf run of the season. This year instead of doing the 12 days of Christmas, we are giving to 4 families on the 4 Sundays in December. We are also giving to 3 of our neighbors on different nights throughout the week. Our first elf gift was cookie dough with the tag "Everyone needs a little extra 'dough' at Christmas." There was one house that Chris had to hop the fence for but other than that it was fun! Chris was the runner and I was the get away driver with Elianna as an accomplice in the backseat.
