For our anniversary, my Chris surprised me by taking me to Medieval Times for dinner!! It was so exciting!

When you arrive, you enter the castle past the guards and are given a crown to wear based on which knight you would cheer for. Everyone called you "My Lord" or "My Lady." There are 6 different knights and they all had different colors (red, green, black & white, red & yellow, blue and yellow). We had a red crown because we were going to be cheering for the red knight.

The entire time you are eating, a story is taking place in the area right in front of you. The basic story is that the prince went to some country to sign a peace treaty but the prince from that country actually captured him instead of signing the treaty. The bad prince (green knight) then came and told the good king that his son was captured and that in order to see him the bad prince would have to be defeated in a tournament. The bad prince had it all set up so that after the tournament his bad army would come in and destroy the good king and all his people.
The main part, however, is the tournament. There were horses that danced to the music (Chris knows the particular name of the horse but I don't remember), a falconer guy with his falcon that flew everywhere over your head and a spear/javelin type throw. There were more but I just have to describe them because I don't know what they are called. There were rings hanging down and the knights would ride by and have to stick a javelin through the ring. Sounds easy but it is really hard. They also had to ride by and grab a flag sticking up from the ground and then as they rode back they threw 2 flags back and forth to each other.
The highlights of the tournament were the sword fights and the jousting matches. Although you knew they had very carefully practiced the fights, they were still very impressive! Obviously, the main goal was to defeat the bad green knight. Sadly, our red knight died while trying to protect the country. However, the black & white knight (along with the good prince who somehow got out of his ropes) defeated the bad green knight and the kingdom was saved!! Hoorah!!

The food was very good but if you prefer using utensils, this is not the place for you. They offer no utensils to eat your food with. You must drink your soup out of the bowl and pick up all your food with your fingers. Messy but yummy! We had tomato type soup with lots of cheese in it, garlic bread, chicken (leg, thigh and wing), a rib, 1/2 roasted potato, and an apple turnover for dessert. Mmmm!

Afterwards, we were able to met our knight along with the "royal family." Altogether it was a wonderful, exciting knight . . . night!
