Vacation

Vacation is in just a few very short days.  As in 2 short days.  {Insert panic here!}  Actually I'm not doing too bad on my list.  Today is my cleaning day and tomorrow is packing and everything else not done yet day.

I am one of "those people" who prefers their house nice and clean before they go on vacation.  Of course, when we come back everything becomes a tornado zone with the throwing of everything in the middle of the floor for a few days until it actually gets put away.  I think there are a couple reasons for the pre-vacation house cleaning.  1) My mom did it and now I do.  It's a gene I suppose.  2) I always think "If we die I want my house to be clean".  I'm not sure for who - I guess whoever would move "us" out.  Very morbid and vain thinking.  3) It just makes me feel better.

All of this is to say, I will be off grid for awhile.  Well, to be technical, a great while.  While Elianna and I will be gone for a month, we will be without the computer thus no internet access thus no blog updates.  I may try to update after the wedding but I'm not making any promises.  

There is still much to do but keeping on a good pace so I have hope there will be no stress tomorrow and Wednesday.  Ah!  Who am I kidding?!?  There always is!

Dentist Visit

Well, I am procrastinating as to what to throw together for dinner tonight.  Therefore, I will share with you Elianna's very first dental appointment.  I know, I know.  Supposedly you are supposed to take your kid to the dentist when their first tooth comes in.  Really??! It would take me longer to get to the appointment than for them to check that one itty bitty tooth.  Due to moving, sickness etc etc, we are just now getting to the dentist.

I took her to A Wild Smile which is totally decorated with a jungle theme.  And when I mean totally I mean TOTALLY!!!  They have "passports" that they put stickers in each time you go to a "station" (i.e.:  brush your teeth, x-rays, have your teeth cleaned, etc).  It even has her picture in there - taken by a dental assistant that should not quit her day job to become a photographer.  Oh! Did I mention her dentist wrote a personal little note (plus tooth picture) in the back of her passport?  And they gave her a prize bag at the end?  

When you lay back in the dental chair, you look up at a huge tree with all kinds of stuffed animals in it.  Hello?  Awesome!  They have cutesy silly names for everything like "Let me move Mrs. Lips a little bit" and stuff that an adult would cringe at but a 3 year old - how cool!!

Yes, this is a rave review about them and I'm not ashamed to say I would absolutely LOVE to go there!  Excluding the cutesy names of course.  How can you not rave when your kid loved it and wasn't scared and was so still?  Which, if you know Elianna even a bit, that last part of the previous sentence should make you stop and say What?!? Still?!?  I was so very proud of her! 

This is Sparta!

This past Saturday Chris once again took part of the Spartan Race in Fort Carson CO.  He has worked hard and trained toward this day for months.  All his hard work paid off by getting a time of 1:14:18 which placed him 70th Overall (out of 5751 people), 67th in his Gender (out of 3808 people) and 18th in his Age (out of 727 people).  He was in the top 1% for all those categories.  

This year Elianna stayed with Chris' cousin, Tiffany, so I could go down to the race with him.  I was able to go out onto the course and take some pictures.  Good job to my Superman!!!

He also tried his hand at the Slosh Pipe (a 12 foot pipe filled 60% with water) and tied for 2nd place.
