Angel Lush

1 pkg. (4-serving size) Jell-O Vanilla flavor
1 can (20 oz.) crushed pineapple in juice
1 cup thawed Cool Whip whipped topping
1 pkg. (10 oz.) round angel food cake
Strawberries

-Mix dry pudding mix and pneapple with juice in medium bowl. Gently stir in whipped topping.

-Cut cut horizontally into 3 layers. Place bottom cake layer, cut side up, on serving plate, top with 1 1/3 cups of the pudding mixture. Cover with middle cake layer and additional 1 cup of the remaining pudding mixture.

-Top with remaining cake layer; spread with remaining pudding mixture. Refrigerate at least 1 hour. Top with strawberries just before serving. Store leftover dessert in refrigerator.

I put strawberries on the top and around the bottom (to fill up the cake plate). I also made a chocolate heart (see recipe below) and put in the middle on top. It also tasted VERY good - it was light and airy tasting.

Recipe for chocolate heart: freeze a cookie sheet and whatever cookie cutter design you want. Make sure they are both good and cold! Put wax paper over the cookie sheet. Take chocolate shell (NOT chocolate syrup) stuff and pour into the cold cookie cutter on top of the wax paper. Hold cookie cutter for a couple of minutes until the shell hardens. Put it in the freezer until ready to put on whatever.

Confession: This is not a picture of the cake I made.

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day was a little different for us this year. It began with my Chris making Eggs Benedict (yummy!!!). He then had to leave for a little to practice for the Valentine's program that was later that evening. While he was gone, Harley and I hung out. Our big activity for the day though was traveling to Eatontown, NJ to eat lunch at Bobby Flay's burger restaurant. Back in November, Chris received an email from Bobby (well not from Bobby himself but you get the point) and the heading said "Book signing and Valentine's Day." Bobby was going to be at Bobby's Burger Palace in Eatontown, NJ and they were also promoting their Valentine's dinner menu. We read the email way back in November and simply remembered that he was going to be in Eatontown and Valentine's Day. So we were thinking he was going to be in Eatontown for Valentine's Day. Well, off we were. I took our Bobby Flay cookbooks, a pen and our camera in my big bag for the big event!

So we drive the 47 minutes to the restaurant, wait for about 30 minutes or so, order our meal and sit down to wait until 2 pm when Bobby was to arrive. By the way - the burgers were scrumptuous but the sweet potato fries were the best! Anyway, we ate VERY slowly since we had good seats by the back entrance. At 1:40 pm (20 minutes until the big time!), we had eaten all of our food - so we ordered more fries, took turns going to the bathroom, and looked up baby names on Chris' new Blackberry Storm. Around 1:50, we decided to ask one of the servers if Bobby was still coming at 2 pm (no one looked extremely excited - except us of course).

As with most of my stories there is a twist. We had not read the email as closely as we should have. The actual date Bobby was at the burger joint was the weekend before (Feb. 7). So unfortunately we missed him. However, the server did tell us that Bobby is going to be doing a book signing tour and he is scheduled to be back at that burger place in April. Hopefully we will get to see him then. We did get an excellent lunch out of it though!

Valentine's night we had a program at church. It was a bring your best homemade dessert (we have to specify this or else we get nasty store bought stuff). I took a delicious dessert that is only sorta homemade - I'll have to post it on a later date. It was fun. The beginning part was people singing different songs (ended up being a little sappy -- "I'm going to dedicate this song to my husband/wife for all their love. Love you honey bunny." Even as a married woman I gagged a little). The second half was more entertaining. The best part was 4 out of the 5 pastors (minus Pastor Martens) lip synching to some oldies song (don't know the name but it goes like this -- "In the jungle the mighty jungle the lion sleeps tonight") while wearing weird bowling shirts, white socks with rolled up pants. My Chris even had slicked back hair - totally a turn on . . . NOT!!! The other part of the night was Chris and I were in the Nearly-wed, Newly-wed (us) and Oldly-wed game. We lost. Of course we lost to our frends Tom & Cheri simply because the question was "What did your husband do for you last year?" Their answer: probably nothing. How uncool! We lost to unromantic people during a Valentine's Day game. Neither Chris or I could remember what we had done the year before. As always, I remembered way after the event. We packed and moved on Valentine's Day. It is hard to believe we have lived in our house for almost one year!

Hope you all had a Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Little Man

The Little Man has been sickly for the last couple of days. He had the cold and then it moved down to his chest. Harley has been helping to keep his nose cleaned off . . . he loves to lick the LM. The LM also likes to give Harley his hands to like and most recently putting his face down in front of Harley's for a good licking. Yuck!! I'm just extremely thankful that they get along well.

He thoroughly enjoys playing in the cupboard. It was empty of water bottles and tea so he enjoyed all the "free space."

Small Fry

Before Victoria was, well, Victoria she was Junior Berger. We are now announcing Small Fry coming September 2009. Yup, we are expecting Baby #2!

Please pray with us that Small Fry (we are going for a Happy Meal here) will be a healthy baby and that we won't worry but trust God the remaining months. We will be sure to keep you updated on the progress.

There is poo in my shoe

The other night as we were getting ready for bed the following takes place:

Chris: "It smells like poo in here."

Lisa: "I don't smell anything."

Chris: "I'm telling you it smells like poo in here. I bet the dog left something because I smell it."

Lisa: "I don't smell anything . . ."

We get up and look around - no poo.

Chris: "It still smells like poo. One day you're going to be cleaning and you will find the pile of poo."

Lisa: "That is so gross. I seriously hope not that would be the worst!"

The next morning as I'm getting ready to go out, I put on a pair of boots I have not worn since Christmas. As I'm putting my foot in I feel something in my shoe. Immediately I start freaking out because I'm sure there is poo in my shoe. I almost just throw the boots in the garbage because there is NO WAY I would EVER wear them again! But then again I just want to see this amazing feat of Harley's good aim. Instead of poo this is what I found (sorry the picture is fuzzy):

Since way back when we both lived at home this little clothespin has been transferred back and forth between me and Sissy and has turned up in a multitude of places. Sometimes it takes quite a while to find its way back to the other person but it eventually does (amazingly, it has no name). Now, my dear sister has given it back to me. And, of course, I don't find it until the day after Chris is sure there was poo in the house - and I was sure it was in my shoe.

PS to Sissy: I'm making your lasagna tonight. NERVOUS!!! I'll let you know how it tastes!
