God Bless the South!

This weekend Chris & I attended a wedding at our church. Weddings in the North are so different from the South! Up here it is an all day affair. We got to the church about 1:45pm and did not get home until 10pm. The wedding started at 2pm and ended about 3pm. We stood and talked in the lobby until 3:30pm and then went home to rest for about 15 minutes before we had to leave for the reception. The reception place was about 30-45 minutes away and started at 5pm. We ate hors d'oeuvre's until about 6:30pm and then went to a separate room to have our dinner. Everyone here has a sit-down dinner along with the hors d'oeuvre's. It is crazy! After eating our 6 course meal, we felt like we needed to be rolled out. Thank goodness for the South where we saw ya hitched, ate some light yummies and got on with our lives! It seems like it should be the opposite with the Northerners always on the go but I guess this is the one time they stop and take their time. Personally, I like the Southern way!

Chris will be attending the Men's Retreat this weekend over in PA (he is in charge of paintball) while I will be heading out to Bethie's house for 5 days. It will be tons of fun but I will sure miss my Chris!

For You Eric

Here is a picture of the new house we are moving in to.

There is also a new blog called Round Up Sunday but then remembered Eric wanted to see a large picture of the new house. :)

Round Up Sunday

This past week was busy getting ready for Round-Up Sunday. Normally I love this day because we have Sunday School and church in the morning, then we go to the farm for lunch and then we have the evening service earlier in the day and then the whole evening is free. However, since Steve went to Haiti, Chris was in charge of the whole day (set up and food). So for the past week, Chris has been terribly busy setting up and when I could, I helped by shopping and helping with food prep. The menu was pulled pork, bbq ribs, corn casserole, baked potatoes and mac n cheese. We did have quite a bit of help which we were very thankful for. We made it through the day (we only ran out of corn casserole because everyone loved it!) and were done around 7pm. We went home, took showers to rid our bodies of food smell (yuck!) and read until we fell asleep. This week, we don't have anything huge planned although next week (Yah!), I take off to Bethie's house for about 5 days and Chris has the men's retreat where he is in charge of paintball. So hopefully this week will be a little more relaxed. Mom and Bethie - can't wait to see you next week! Love to all!

Kickoff

Well, our Youth Group Kickoff is officially over. Whew! It went very well last night. Our tailgate party started at 6pm at the new house and by 6:05pm there were about 70 people there. Our total number of teens for last night at Youth Group was 83. The whole Kickoff was a football theme event. We decorated the Youth Building (see pictures below) to make it look like a football field along with a sports cafe. Now each Wednesday during the month of September we will tailgate in the backyard of the new house. (Nope not moved in yet to the new house - couple more weeks) Next week is Wednesday Witness so pray the teens invite their friends out to hear the Gospel message. Today, we are trying to recuperate and straighten up everything that got thrown wherever over the last week. :)
