I have been given a whole new meaning of the word
postal. Today Elianna and I went to the post office to send Grape News her birthday present. Late yes, but she knows what it is so what does it matter? Right?
As we are walking into the post office, an older gentlemen has just finished his transaction and is walking out. As we begin to pass each other, he exclaims (very loudly and excitedly I might add) "Look who it is!!" as he looks at Elianna. Immediately my mental facial recognition program begins working but comes up empty - I am certain neither Elianna or I know this man, but he is sure excited to see us. He then asks me if "it" is a boy or a girl. A girl. Which explains the pink outfit. The next very long minute is taken up with polite smiles as I move into line. That was it. An excited exclamation and a question. And he moved on. Weird. The man in front of me thought I knew him. Nope. No clue.
Now we are waiting in line as the lone post office lady is having to look for Hawaii stamps in the back. Apparently they are popular because they are all out. The lady desiring the Hawaii stamps is apparently stumped because she pauses to think and think and ask exactly which stamps they have. After the still lone post office lady goes through all the choices, Miss Hawaii decides on one that was not given in the choices - Bob Hope. Go with the flag stamp - it's simple and classic.
In a short span of 10 minutes, I was on the verge of going postal. Or maybe not. I may have just decided that it would make a cute blog topic. Going postal in the post office. In 2001 we did have anthrax there. Not that it is at all related to going postal.
On an entirely unrelated topic, tomorrow is the National Day of Remembrance for pregnancy and infant loss. I am once again reminded of our Victoria and how much we miss her. Although we have Elianna, I often think of what things Toree would be doing now as she grew. It is bittersweet. Victoria, we love you!
