Chris often works at 5K races for Camp Gladiator to recruit new people to join. One of the recent (as in the beginning of May but when you're terribly behind, it becomes recent) races he worked was the AirLife Denver 5K. Elianna and I were not planning on attending but after he texted me the picture below, we jumped in the car and headed over. Chris said that all the vehicles with sirens turned them on to start the race. He said it was terribly loud! Glad we missed that!
We got there after the race had finished, but were still able to see all the ambulances, fire trucks, police cars and motorcycles, and the AirLife helicopter. While we were waiting in the free face painting line, we were able to talk to one of the AirLife pilots who was in line with her daughter. I actually learned a lot by talking with her. She said that (in our area anyway) there are 8 different teams that go out based on the situation. She is part of the High Risk OB team. They mainly transport people to different hospitals and don't do the "Oh my goodness! Someone is having a baby in a cornfield in Nebraska and we need to get them to the hospital!" stuff. Pretty exciting to learn about!
After Elianna got her arm painted, we headed to Chick-Fil-A for an impromptu lunch which basically means I get to sit quietly by myself for awhile while she plays in the play place. Score all around!
