Sleepytime

Remember how Elianna told you in Harley & Me - 2 months, that she breathes shallow or not at all at night? Well, Thursday afternoon we went to Children's Hospital in Philly for her sleep test.

Let me back up. When I went to Babies R Us to register, my friend Wendy advised me to register for a monitor called an Angel Care monitor. It is a combo sound and movement monitor. It picks up not only sound as would a "regular" monitor, but also picks up the baby's movement. If no movement is detected after 20 seconds an alarm goes off. It's great! No going in to check on the baby to make sure they are ok all the time. Well, Elianna's monitor had been going off frequently so her doctor requested a sleep test for her.

Alright, back to the story. We got to CHOP around 12:30 pm but due to miscommunication somewhere, we were not seen until 1:45 pm. By this time Elianna was ready for her nap so after they hooked her up, I put her down. She went to sleep pretty well but woke up when the alarms went off because the pulse reader thingy came off her foot. And then it happened again. And again. Until she was so distraught that she wouldn't go back to sleep. After she ate, I put her back down to sleep but she woke up again this time due to gas. Note to self: Always and I repeat ALWAYS have Mylicon with you! In my defense (kinda), I had a new bottle all ready to be put in her diaper bag but forgot to actually stick it in the bag. Apparently, a nurse has to call a doctor who has to prescribe Mylicon and turn in the prescription to the pharmacy who has to fill the medication and then get someone to bring it up to the nurse who has to bring it in for your now hysterical child whose stomach hurts from a huge gas bubble. Needless to say she got no nap today.

She went down pretty good for the night but has slightly woken up several times due to many things such as not being able to breathe now due to some breath air detector up her nose and taped to her face. Poor baby. Thankfully she is now sleeping but I am not (5:30 am).

Her test is officially over at 7 am but we have to wait around until they read her results. They said we should be able to go by 11 am. This translates into we will probably get home around 12 pm or later since Philly traffic is terrible on Fridays... and Sunday thru Monday.

*Updated on Saturday: Her test results came back normal. We got home around 11:30 am. She had a rough rest of the day but went to sleep at 7:30 pm and didn't wake up until 8:45 am.
