Happy Yankee Doodle Day!

Happy 4th of July! It is a beautiful spring-feeling day here in NJ! Last night Hamilton celebrated July 4th with 15 minutes worth of fireworks. Our church has a July 4th tradition of handing out popcorn, cotton candy, ices, snow cones, sodas and VBS promotion material (all free) to those walking by the church to get to the park where the fireworks go off. Chris was wounded while handing out popcorn. Here's the story: while Chris handed a little boy some popcorn through the car window, the boy accidentally rolled the window up instead of down giving Chris a cut on his hand (nothing serious). It was quite humorous! We had fun although the weather was quite cool not making it seem very July 4th-ish.

Last weekend was FIFA Frenzi, which for those of you who don't know, is a series of soccer games we set up with the youth group (and those adults brave enough to come out and play). This year we had 8 teams which made the bracket work very well. Chris' team, who he played goalie for, came in 4th this year. A team made up of teens from a prep school soccer team placed 1st. No surprise. The games started at 2pm and ended about 8pm. The sun was out but not overly warm and gave Lisa a nice flip-flop tan.

This Friday night Chris has an evening paintball scheduled. The guys will come out and play paintball from 7pm to 11pm and then are spending the night out in tents at Johnny's house (where they play paintball). Chris and one of the parents who usually comes out to help with paintball are making some serious plans to scare the guys with (ie: rent a bear costume and come out in the middle of the night). We will definately have to let you know how all that goes.

Again, Happy Yankee Doodle Day from Chris & Lisa!
