PW Book Signing

A few weeks ago The Pioneer Woman came to Denver for a book signing. And when I say Denver I mean Littleton. 40 minutes away from downtown Denver. Not close to our house. Chris was supportive of making the trip with Elianna and I to get my one cookbook signed. The book signing started at 4 pm. We left our house a little before 3 pm because my Chris had to work. We got to the book signing and was handed the number of 500.

After a bit of waiting and standing around with apparently 500 other people in a small confined space with no air movement, The Pioneer Woman got up and read a poorly put together slide show.  Most of what she read said, is from her blog so it was pretty much common knowledge. Upon the conclusion of the talk, the signing part started.

Around 5:30 pm we left to go grab some dinner and come back since they were on numbers 1-30 . . . still. We ate dinner and came back to find out they were on numbers like 50-100. The line pretty much had not moved at all. It could partially be because there were people taking 10+ books up at once for her to sign. We also found out that the store had been handing out numbers since the beginning of the week. This small fact was not advertised so those of us who actually live around downtown Denver were not made aware of this fact. It was all so disappointing.

We left around 7:30 pm even though the store decided to put the new Muppets movie in on a big screen. So I still have her cookbook and it works just the same with or without a little pen ink on the front cover.

I decided to be a follower and take a picture with my cell phone.

Running Club

There is a couple in our church, Wellspring, who are running fiends. Example: for Ben's 30th birthday, they decided to run, oh say, 30 miles. How fun! Whatever. Anyway, they have started a running club as a way to get to know new people. Right now, it is still just a small group made up of people from our church. Last Tuesday (not yesterday), our running club joined another and much much larger running club. The point of joining up with them last week was to see how their club is managed and organized. The best part was we got free dinner from Wahoos! Fabulous!

Let me add here: I do not foresee myself running the same number of miles as is my birthday. If I was assured that birthday numbers went down instead of up, I would wait a few years (oh say 30 or so) and run it then.

All of that was to share these photos with you. {Blabber much?}  Elianna wanted to take some pictures on my phone while I was running during running club. Sadly, I had to keep stopping (no complaining here) so she could take the picture (they were still pretty blurry).
It's fun to see pictures from her point of view.  Note: The first picture Elianna requested that I take a picture of the "big building". The rest of the pictures are courtesy of EJ.

Reverse

Because I am behind in my blogging, we have to put it in reverse a bit - like a month. Almost a month ago, we had our first guests come out to CO! Exciting! These two people are special to Chris and I so naturally we were excited that they came out.

We picked Dave and Lauren up from the airport Saturday morning and immediately drug them off to the mountains. Our first stop was Boulder where we walked the Pearl Street Mall and watched a street performer cram himself into a tiny box. Very entertaining. People are interesting.

Next was lunch in the park followed by a trip up into the Rocky Mountain National Park. See, told you we hauled them straight up into the mountains.

Sunday between church services (morning and evening), we headed to Glendale to share the city where we believe God wants us to plant the church.

Monday we visited Chris at work before I took them to the airport to head back home. It was a quick quick visit, but I hope (hint hint if you guys are reading this) they come back soon to visit again.

Elianna was so sad when we told her they were leaving in the morning.  She still asks where her friends, Davey Chowda and Miss Lauren are, or as she says "What they going for, Mom?"

PS: I stole these pictures from Dave. Thanks Davey Chowda!
