Halloween 2013

Man oh man!  Halloween on a school day is the pits!  As soon as we got home from school, we already had trick-or-treaters at our house.  I was rushing around trying to get the cookies finished baking, the coffee made and hot water ready for the hot chocolate and hot apple cider packs we had.  During a lull, Elianna quick threw on her Peter Pan costume (minus the hat - often opting instead for Chris' Jack Sparrow wig with long braids) while this momma never had time to don her pirate clothes.

There were so many people this year!  Even groups of adults were walking around getting candy.  Yes, I do think that is weird but nonetheless they got candy and coffee and cookies.  It was a truly great way to do Halloween.  So many people were thankful for the hot drink and commented on how nice it was for us to have cookies and drinks for them.  It's not us - just wanting and desiring to show God's love.

By 7:30pm, we had already run out of hot chocolate, hot apple cider, coffee, almost out of candy and were down to the last cookies.  After Chris got home from Camp Gladiator, he took Elianna around to get some candy.  Elianna was so excited to go out - not to get candy for herself - but so that we could bring it home to pass out to others.  She has such a sweet heart.

I am so thankful we could pass out, not only candy, but also the other items.  Sometimes, even in the hurry of getting it ready, it's good to pause and serve others.

She was so excited (and cold) to pass out candy

After Halloween, Elianna decided she wanted to give her Peter Pan costume to someone who "didn't have a costume" (her words).  She has decided to give it to some friends little boy, Brady, who is almost 1.  He will have to wait a few years to wear the costume but, again, I am so thankful for her sweet heart.
