This year for our youth group kickoff we had a theme of 50's night. Before Wednesday Worship started that evening we had a "50's diner" outside. There were empty coke bottles with a carnation in the middle of the table, ketchup in glass bottles, 50's music playing and servers in 50's outfits on skates. The diner menu consisted of either a hamburger or cheeseburger with fries and either a bottle of water or a glass bottle of coke.
Outside we had an old car section and a motorcycle section while inside the youth building was decorated as a '50's diner. There were about 6 cars ranging from a Model-T to a '57 Chevy. As the teens were outside eating in the diner, the guy leaders rode up on motorcycles revving their engines.
As usual, the leaders also dressed up. This year we had on 50's attire - ladies in poodle skirts and guys in jeans, white t-shirts and leather jackets.
We also encouraged the teens to dress up and they went all out this year!
Elianna even had a poodle skirt. She looked adorable!
During the worship service, the guy leaders "sang" a special 50's song, we had a 50's trivia game and then ... Elvis showed up to sing a song for us.
We had 92 teens and it was probably the most fun kickoff we have ever done!
