March 12 marked our 3 year anniversary which fell on a Wednesday so naturally we did not celebrate until the weekend. Friday evening we left for NYC. Chris would not tell me where we were going only that we were going to NYC for dinner. We drove up there and then we were going to catch the subway. We normally go to a certain subway stop not far from where we park but for some reason we decided to go to a different stop. However at that stop you can't buy tickets there. We came back up and decided to just hail a cab - easier said than done. As we looked for one that was vacant, we walked and walked - me in my high heels because I didn't think we would be walking. Finally, we found a cab and Chris told him the address. Our cab driver who was from a different country thought Chris had said 102 Street and 5th Avenue (instead of 102 5th Avenue - at the cross of 16th Avenue and 5th Avenue). Yep, we went 35 blocks too far before Chris pointed out the fact that what he had said was the street address not the cross streets. $20 later we made it 1/2 hour late to our mystery destination. Chris took me to Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill!!

We forgot our camera and had to buy a disposable one which has to be developed - blah, blah, blah - oh the wonderful thing a digital camera is. The picture above was taken off the website. Anyway, Chris got lamb while I got pork tenderloin. And for dessert Chris got warm bread pudding while I ate a version of an ice cream sandwich except this one had spicy mexican chocolate on it. It was a wonderful, and tasty dinner!
Side story:
The tables were extremely close together at Mesa Grill so at times you can hear what the people next to you are saying (that close together). Here is a synopsis of the couple next to us:
Lady next to us: "Do you see him? Do you think he's in there? Look in the kitchen . . . do you see him?"
Fiancé: "No (with no enthusiasm), I don't see him."
A couple minutes later
Lady to waitress: "Is Bobby Flay here?"
Waitress: "No."
Lady: "Does he come often?"
Waitress: "Sometimes."
A couple minutes later
Lady: "Do you think he sat here? I mean on this bench right here? Because if he did that would be so cool. I need to call and leave a message for Jessica (apparently her friend) and tell her where I am."
Fiancé to us: "She is in love with Bobby Flay. A guy can only dream that he would come and take her away."
Us to ourselves: "Nice."
