Advent Calendar - Day #17 {Make Caramel Popcorn}

Chris' aunt shared with me the most delicious recipe for caramel popcorn.  It is so simple and easy to make which adds to the wonders of this popcorn.  I've contemplated marketing the popcorn but then I wouldn't be able to share the recipe.  Dreams have been pushed to the side.

Caramel Popcorn

2 bags regular sized microwave popcorn
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Pop microwave popcorn and dump into a large brown paper bag (ask for them at the grocery store).
Bring first 4 ingredients to a boil in a saucepan.
Boil 2 minutes on high.
Remove and stir in baking soda.
Pour over popcorn in sack and fold bag down and shake.
Cook on high for 3-1/2 minutes in microwave.  Remove the bag every 30 seconds and shake.
Spread caramel corn on waxed paper and cool.

Unfortunately, I have no pictures of said popcorn.  It was either devoured eaten or given away.  But it does look very similar to the popcorn below.

Advent Calendar - Day #16 {Advent Wreath - Matthew 1:18-24 & Elf Gift #3

Since Chris was gone this weekend, not only did we, once again, do the Advent Wreath on Monday but I had a friend help me with the Elf Gifts.  Since 2 of the people don't know her, I gave her a note that told them it was us just in case she got caught.  Thankfully she didn't have to use it at all.  However, we almost had to!

One of the people we gave gifts to was the store manager at Chris' old store, Jesus.  Last week when we dropped off their gift, they didn't answer the door.  So this week, I wanted to make sure that they got the gift.  So after Angie knocked and ran, we parked up the street and waited.  Well, Jesus came out of his house and looked all around.  He then began walking down the street towards my car.  I figured if the car was on and running, he would know it was that car and come to the car.  So I turned my car off.  But he came coming towards us.  As he got closer, I got nervous and started the car and began driving off.  This next part makes waiting around so much better because I will forever have the picture of Jesus running down the street after us in his pajama pants and slippers!  It was hysterical!  Best part of the Elf Gifts!

Before we went on our Elf giving, we watched Caleb's church play via live streaming where he played an angel.  He did an excellent job!

Advent Calendar - Day #15 {Babysitting Co-Op}

Several families in our church have gotten together and set up a babysitting co-op.  Every 2 weeks we switch who watches the kids and the other parents get to go out on a date.  It's a great deal we have!  This weekend (Chris was still gone) was our weekend to host the co-op.  The kids had a great time and I enjoyed time spent with Angela and Jim.

That was the first weekend we had Zeus (the dog we watched for 3 weeks), so the older kids had fun playing with the dogs.  The little ones played in Elianna's room and in general, had fun running around.    After a bit, we made pretzels with Hershey kisses and caramel popcorn.  It made a night without my Chris a bit just a bit better.

Advent Calendar - Day #13 & 14 {Miscellaneous}

These two days, I have to admit, we didn't really do anything for our Advent Calendar.  Chris was out of town and the days were a bit hard for me and adding an Advent Calendar activity on top of that was a bit much for me.  Since I have nothing to write about, I'll just update you on the other places the moose was hidden.
