Thunderbirds

Now that school is just beginning around here, let's talk about school ending back in May.  The Air Force Academy graduation to be exact.  Each year for the graduation, the Thunderbirds perform.  Because the Air Force Academy sits so far back into the foothills of the mountains and has so much land around it, in order to watch the Thunderbirds, you are forced to watch from afar.

Being from Pensacola and watching the Blue Angels up close and personal either on the Navy base or at the beach, it's very different to watch such a performance from far away.  The wow factor just is not the same.  However, the backdrop is just as gorgeous albeit totally different.  The mountains and blue sky make a beautiful background to watch the planes against.

This year we paid $5 to park at the Western Museum of Mining and Industry and watch atop a hill.  It wasn't a bad spot until you look next door at Bass Pro Shop and realize you could be sitting there for free.  You live and learn.  While we waited (and got sunburnt because I forgot sunscreen), Elianna and I made a list of all the things we need to remember for next year: 

1) Park at Bass Pro Shop

2) Drive the truck and fill the bed of the truck with pillows to lay on

3) Sunscreen!

4) Binoculars

5) No need to get there 2 hours in advance - go a half hour before it starts to get a decent parking spot

However, it was a day that Elianna and I got to spend some one on one time together and we enjoyed our time touring the outdoor mining museum, talking and hanging out together (aka people watching - she has my people watching genes!).

Posts are so behind, I'm not sure even where to start.  Should I go back and start where I ended and move forward?  Should I start with now and go back?  Should I do a blog about Christmas 2013 before Christmas 2014 gets here?  Who knows?!?

Here's a little of what has happened since the last post 2 weeks ago!  Say what!?!

1.  Convention happened.  It's over - hallelujah!  Things went well for the most part.  I'm a hard critic - especially when it's a reflection of my work.  Not at all that I'm perfect or have to appear perfect because, hello? have you met me?  However, my work is a different story.  I like it to be just so and when things don't go according to plan, I get all twisted and stressed and anything else that would go with those emotions.

2.  Vacation is a-coming!  Well, for 2 of the 3 of us.  Poor Chris gets left out of the fun once again.  Elianna and I will be heading to Florida for about 10 days to celebrate Mr Harrison's first birthday!  We are super duper excited!

3.  School starts 4 days after we get back from Florida.  In addition, her kindergarten registration is while we are in Florida.  I (finally) got ahold of the school today only to be transferred to a voicemail (again).  Can one just get a supply list so I'm not running around 4 days before school begins?  Please!

4.  Oh!  Did I mention the frantic call to the pediatrics office in order to get the shots Elianna needs before school starts ... before we go on vacation.

5.  To top it all off, I have a project to do before vacation that won't be discussed until Monday.

No stress here!  However, I have a plan to get things back onto schedule.  Here's to hoping posts will be going up over the next few weeks!

Slacker

SooooO I have come to the realization that I have been a slacker lately when it comes to blog posts.  Next week is our Berean Convention and I have lots lots lots to do to get ready for it.  Then there is the fact that new friends are coming to stay with us during Convention.  So in addition to all that I have to do for Convention, I have decided to re-do the guest room that they will be staying in.  No problem, right?!?  I have a whole week.  Ugh!  Why do I do these things to myself?

It's so hard to believe we would want to get rid of the orange and green walls, but we didn't think our guests would appreciate it very much.  Here are some before, during and I'll have to post after pictures ... after I finish it.

Rugbytown USA

Did you know that Glendale is also called Rugbytown USA?  Yup!  They have a huge facility dedicated soley to rugby.  Chris and Elianna were able to go to a game this Spring.  I'm not exactly sure why I didn't go, but nonetheless, they went and enjoyed their time.

Because my Chris can pretty much talk to anyone, he ended up with free tickets to that days game (match?).  Chris said Elianna did well until the end when she got a little on the antsy side.  But for not really knowing what was going on, she did pretty good he said.

In August, there is a big world rugby tournament here.  Chris would have to tell you it all but something about "the best of the best" will be playing in something like 49 games over the course of 3 days.  He is super pumped and really wanting to go watch some of them.  Elianna and I will be in Florida - perfect timing!
